 Bluetooth Keyboard Support

Bluetooth Keyboards have basic support - the QWERTY keys will work, as will Shift, Alt, Tab. In the Get Console app settings, you can enable "Option as CTRL" which will allow bluetooth keyboad to use the Option/Alt key as the Control Key. This gets around a problem in the Apple API for supporting sending control / escape codes over bluetooth. We are working on making the Arrow keys work in the next release of the app.

Pasting large amount of text in clipboard to console session

The paste to console function will now paste in around 200 lines over serial port before the cable buffer becomes overloaded. On Telnet and SSH sessions there is no real limit to the size of the clipboard for pasting in. On Serial connections the limit is normally is normally about the same as the maximum you can paste to a cisco console port before the cisco console buffer (at 9600 baud) will overflow anyway. We have investigated using a bigger buffer inside the app to slow the rate that we send large pastes to the the serial cable. This is a v1.7x feature on the current app road map.

This device is not optomized for iPhone or similar error

Occasionally after the Apple iOS device has been in power saving mode, this error can occur. The local console session indicator will also go grey. Please disconnect the cable and reconnect it to your Apple iOS device and it will re-detect it properly. You should not lose your Cisco session, or any active remote session.

 Multitasking Support

When running on an iPhone 3GS or 4, iPad or iPod current generation, the Get Console app supports being backgrounded without disconnecting the local user session. However, a remote user connecting to an iOS device via the get-console.com remote access service will have their session paused while the iOS device has another application in the foreground. For this reason, when a remote user is connected to the console port, the iOS device user should not do too much else with the iOS device that is locally connected to the Cisco console port.

Cisco 3500XL and 2900XL Switch - No Console Output

When connecting to very old Cisco 2900XL and 3500XL switches there is often no output is visible on the screen. This is caused because these old Cisco switches need RTS/CTS flow control enabled. Change the flow control setting in Get Console "Console Settings". Note that the flow control setting does not actually change until the cable is removed and reconnected from the Apple device.
