Problem reading logs

I am a new user and have an Air Console connected via wifi to my ipad with the get console app. I am trying to read data from various serial devices but get lots of ? Marks in the scripts, oh and I also get audible beeps every now and again. The screenshots are from a garmin GPS receiver but I cannot make sense of the code. I am a complete newby to this so please excuse my stupidity if this is a simple settings issue. Any help much appreciated.

Garbled output on the screen often indicates that the serial line settings are incorrect.

Refer to the instruction manual that came with your Garmin device for specific settings, or if you don't have the instruction manual you could just try to guess the settings.

GPS devices often output at 4800 or 9600 baud, so I would suggest trying a few different baud rates and see if that works.
