There will be an error code associated with the error on the screen if related to PS licensing, however for a generic error such as cannot connect to Private Server, either the iPhone cant resolve the PS IP address (not in the DNS server that it is using), or can resolve it but cant communicate with PS server.
Please let me know the IP of your Private Server via email@example.com so we can check for any License issue that maybe preventing it working.
