Scrambled data in log file

We use the Air Console device to connect to a piece of equipment and capture a data dump.
If, during the dump (say 45 seconds), I tap on the phone's screen to scroll around as the data comes in, the data is no longer in the proper order. Either on the screen or in the log file. It's as if I'm moving the cursor around as someone else types.

Custom product with integrated FTDI RL232 chip -> Air Console -> Wifi to iPhone 5.
One way communication, buttons on the device trigger the data dump.
