Firmware 2.65+ only supported on Airconsole 2.0+

Hi all,

Just saw this post: http://support.get-console.com/support/ ... ober-2014- which says that v2.65+ is not supported on older AirConsoles.

I had already upgraded my AirConsole A-01 to v2.70 and appears to be running OK. Does anyone know why they are recommending v2.60? Is the AirConsole 1 hardware different to that of the 2.0?

I installed 2.65 and then 2.70 on my old AirConsole without any problems.

The reason is prior to Airconsole 2.0 we could handle and did have a greater variation in the internal hardware spec as the firmware demands for earlier releases were not as great. Some flavours of A-01 hardware type won't run the 2.65+ firmware, and some will. Since Oct 2014, which coincided with shipping of Airconsole 2.0 the hardware became more standardised. While Airconsole 2.0 also reports its "A-01" hardware, it is actually made to a more tightly defined internal component spec that will run the 2.65+ firmware.

But as you have discovered there are still a pretty good chance your Airconsole 1.0 hardware can run 2.70 and later, but it is more luck than design. Its better for us to say Firmware 2.65+ supported on Airconsole 2.0 rather than promise it will work all the way back to Airconsole 1 and then have some customers disappointed.

Thanks for the reply Simon and for updating the firmware site with even clearer notification of the split.
I'll probably leave mine at at v2.70 until some new functionality make me think differently.
