Connecting to an Ad-Hoc Network

Hi,

Does the Airconsole support being connected to an Ad-Hoc network in "Wireless Client Mode"?

During a network scan, the Airconsole correctly identifies the network as being Ad-Hoc type. I have selected this network and configured this via Wireless > Setup. I have also disabled the internal access point.
Unfortunately the Airconsole never appears to join the network.
Checking the existing profiles (Wireless > Profiles) the network is shows an "Infrastructure" type which is likely the issue.

Has anyone tried to use the the Airconsole this way?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

In station mode the Airconsole cannot currently connect to Ad-Hoc networks .We are looking to add this to the next firmware release

Thanks for your response Daniel.

Is there an ETA for this feature to be included?
Alternatively, is there a workaround such as manually setting up such a connection via telnet?

Hi Gav,

We are hoping for the next firmware to be in the next 3-4 weeks.

in the meantime as a work-around, you can set up the connection manually. Put the Airconsole into station mode via the web interface and select/configure the AP you want to connect to. In the profile screen it will show incorrectly as "Infrastructure" instead of "Ad-Hoc"

Log into the device via telnet and issue the following commands

Code: Select all

nvram set staNetworkType=0
nvram set staAdhocMode=1
nvram commit

Reboot the device and the profile screen should show the correct results.
